Important opinion to the return in Tunisia

Travelers from abroad will have to use customs applications from June

From June 1, 2025, Tunisians residing abroad and returning to the country via sea ports will be required to use new applications set up by the General Directorate of Tunisian Customs. Objective displayed: Fluidifying input procedures, reducing the queues and strengthening the transparency of the controls.

Invited this Friday, April 11, 2025 on national radio waves, Colonel Elyes Belkheir, Tunisian customs manager, detailed these new digital measures that will come into force from the start of the summer.

Two applications will now be compulsory for travelers: “Amtiaati” (my luggage) and “Rokhsati” (my authorization). The first will allow passengers to declare the list of their personal effects in advance. The second will offer them the possibility of obtaining the traffic authorization necessary for their vehicles.

“The traveler will have to provide a certain number of personal data via these applications before arriving at the port,” said Elyes Belkheir. At their landing in Tunisia, the passengers will then only have to present a QR code generated by the applications to pass the customs controls.
The applications are accessible via the official Tunisian customs website or by downloading the Smart Traveler mobile application.

The customs authorities recall that the period from July 15 to August 1 is traditionally marked by a peak in arrival of Tunisians living abroad, which makes these new procedures all the more crucial to avoid congestion and optimize the transition to the borders.
