This Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a steering committee met at the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, under the presidency of Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub. The objective of this meeting was to take stock of the feasibility study of the phosphate hydraulic transport project, funded by the International Financing Company (IFC), member of the World Bank group.
This project, at an estimated cost of 1100 million dinars, aims to transport phosphate in liquid form via pipelines from the mining region to the transformation sites in Skhira and Gabès. The project also provides for the construction of a seawater desalination station and installations to produce renewable energy.
The next step is to advance in the choice of partners and finalize the technical aspects to guarantee the economic and environmental feasibility of the project. The integration of renewable energies and the optimized management of water resources are essential priorities for this strategic project for the future of the Tunisian mining industry.
