The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced, in a decree published Tuesday, November 4 in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (No. 132), the opening of a national competition for the recruitment of 1,350 university assistant professors. This operation, planned for 2026, is part of the renewal of the teaching-researcher body within Tunisian universities.
A national-scale competition from February 2026
The competition will begin on February 9, 2026 and continue over the following days. It will cover 60 specialties, spread across different university establishments in the country. Certain disciplines concentrate a significant share of open positions, in particular:
- IT: 232 positions,
- Finance and accounting: 67 positions,
- English language: 54 positions,
- Design: 81 positions,
- Mathematics: 52 positions.
The ministry specifies that the recruitment aims to strengthen the educational and scientific capacities of Tunisian universities, while supporting sectors with a high demand for supervision.
Registration procedures and submission of files
Online registrations will be open from December 8 to 22, 2025 at noon on the dedicated platform: concours-recrutement.mes.rnu.tn
Paper files must then be submitted to the universities concerned between December 25, 2025 and January 9, 2026.
Each candidate must present all of their scientific and educational work — publications, research, dissertations, courses and tutorials — in two paper copies and three digital copies, in accordance with the ministerial decree.
With this competition, the Ministry of Higher Education intends to respond to the shortage of teacher-researchers in certain strategic specialties and encourage the renewal of university managers.
The operation is also part of the policy of increasing the skills of the Tunisian university system, initiated in recent years to better meet the needs of the job market and international research standards.
