Strong rains accompanied by hail falls struck several regions of the governorate of Siliana on Sunday, causing major damage to large cultures and olive groves, especially in the delegations of Bourouis, Siliana-Sud and Siliana-Nord.
Jamel Ferchichi, regional agricultural development commissioner, told the TAP agency that between 300 and 600 hectares of cultures were damaged in the localities of Ain Achour (El Hsainia, El Oueslatia and Alelcha) and Tricha (Mhetlia and Henchir Ayari) under Bourouis.
In Siliana-Nord, an area of approximately 100 hectares was also ravaged, especially in the municipalities of El Kaâbel (El Hdeyet), Sidi Mansour, Sidi Morrched and the locality of Jema (Ouled Nafaa and Ouled Manaâ).
