Tunisia goes to economical lighting. The National Agency for Energy Management (ANME), in partnership with the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), launched the first phase of the national “promo-LED” national program yesterday.
Objective: replace four million incandescent lamps energy -consuming with low consumption LED bulbs, for the benefit of limited income families benefiting from the state support on their electricity bill.
This program specifically targets households whose monthly consumption does not exceed 200 kilowatt hours, or approximately 1.2 million households, according to data provided by STEG.
Each family will receive three LED bulbs free of charge to replace their traditional lamps.
This first phase concerns 10 % of the overall objective, or 400,000 LED bulbs to be distributed in the coming weeks.
To benefit from this operation, families must present their last electricity bill in order to verify their eligibility, and put three used incandescent bulbs in exchange for news.
