The criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs to the Tunis Court of Appeal sentenced a Tunisian national to four years in prison to belong to a terrorist organization.
According to the elements of the file, the woman went to Syria in 2014 after being recruited via the Telegram application by a member of the terrorist organization Daesh, with whom she then married according to a religious rite. The latter perished in armed confrontations.
Back in Tunisia with his two children from this union, the accused was arrested, deemed, then found guilty of involvement in a terrorist organization, despite taking into account by the court of certain attenuating circumstances, in particular his family situation.
This verdict is part of the Tunisian judicial policy aimed at treating cases of return of Tunisian nationals who have stayed in conflict areas, respecting the legal framework for the fight against terrorism.
