The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, was received Wednesday at the El Mouradia Palace in Algiers by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the eve of the Tripartite Consultative Meeting on Libya, scheduled for Thursday in the Algerian capital.
According to a press release from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on the situation in Libya and the need to favor an exclusively Libyan-Libyan approach to achieve a lasting political solution, guaranteeing the unity and stability of the neighboring country.
The meeting is part of the Tripartite Consultation Mechanism on Libya, set up to coordinate the positions of neighboring countries and contribute in a neutral and constructive manner to the relaunch of the political process under the aegis of the United Nations.
The latest developments in the situation in Libya
Taking part in this meeting will be Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs and Badr Abdelatty, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad.
The meeting will review the latest developments in the situation in Libya and discuss the joint efforts undertaken by the three neighboring countries – Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt – in coordination with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, with a view to continuing to support and encourage inter-Libyan dialogue,” says the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting will also address the mechanisms aimed at creating a climate conducive to a global and consensual political solution, consecrating the sovereignty and national unity of Libya, while strengthening its security, its stability and its development trajectory, under the aegis and with the support of the United Nations, adds the same source.
