The MDHILA 1 factory, under the Tunisian chemical group (GCT), has taken a significant step in its international recovery. At the end of May 2025, it sent from the Sfax commercial port a first cargo of 27,000 tonnes of extra triphosphate for Bangladesh, according to a source of the GCT cited by Mosaic FM.
This operation marks the start of an ambitious export program for the current year. A total of 110,000 tonnes of this product intended in particular for the manufacture of complex fertilizers are planned for export.
A second cargo is already in preparation and should leave Tunisia by the end of June, this time for another international market. The customer’s name has not yet been revealed.
This exporting dynamic illustrates the recovery efforts made within the GCT, after years of disturbances due to logistical blockages and social tensions in the phosphate production regions. Tunisia’s gradual return to the world’s world derivative market could thus help improve the economic performance of the sector.
