The criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance yesterday rejected requests for the release of Mohamed Frikha, Abdelkrim Harouni and two executives of a national oil company.
Their trial was postponed until December as part of an investigation into suspicious financial transactions.
Continued detention of the main accused
The directors and executives prosecuted remain in preventive detention. Among them, Mohamed Frikha, businessman, and Abdelkrim Harouni, former Minister of Transport and figure in the Ennahdha Movement. The decision of the criminal chamber maintains the procedure as it stands and postpones the full examination of the file until December.
Accusations of financial and administrative corruption
The defendants are suspected of having participated in financial and administrative corruption operations involving a company supervised by Mohamed Frikha and the national oil company. Investigators are studying transactions deemed irregular and likely to have damaged public finances.
