Transport Minister Rachid Amri announced a national-scale project: the extension of the Tunis-Carthage international airport, the cost of which is estimated at 3,000 million dinars.
This program provides for the construction of an aerial metro directly linking the airport to the capital, and aims to increase its capacity to 18 million passengers per year.
According to the minister, the study carried out by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports made it possible to define the technical and financial contours of the project. Given its strategic importance, its implementation will be carried out within the framework of a turnkey contract, through a direct negotiation procedure after pre-selection.
Furthermore, the construction of a new airport in Bizerte remains under study, an option considered to strengthen the territorial network and relieve congestion in the capital in the medium term.
