The governor of Tunis, Imed Boukhris, gave, yesterday Monday, April 28, 2025 in the morning, his instructions for the evacuation of all the buildings threatening ruin, in order to preserve human lives, while working to set up alternative accommodation centers for the citizens concerned.
During a working meeting devoted to a better application of the law relating to the construction in danger, it was agreed to create a “city maintenance agency” responsible for technical and financial coordination as well as the completion of the necessary interventions, with funding provided by the State.
The governor called for the establishment of a local steering committee responsible for coordination between all the actors concerned (heritage, equipment, municipalities, civil protection, etc.), under the supervision of delegates, and whose mission will be to submit decisions to the regional governorate commission.
He also called on all the parties concerned to adopt the heavy renovation method during interventions, while taking care to preserve the historical and heritage character of the buildings concerned.
In addition, the governor urged the heads of sectors (OMDAS) to present detailed reports on the urgent interventions required in housing, real estate, buildings and educational, religious, cultural and sports establishments threatening ruin.
