Ellouhoum: from corruption to “food terrorism”

After the revelations on the structural dysfunctions of the public company Ellouhoum, a new alert darkens the table more. This Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the deputy Syrine Mrabet threw a pavement in the pond by publishing a series of overwhelming videos on the health condition of the products distributed by the company.

A few days earlier, a parliamentary delegation had led an inspection visit to the site, revealing serious financial irregularities, anarchic management and dilapidated facilities. The Tunis prosecutor’s office had then ordered the opening of an investigation, as webdo reported in an article published last week.

But the new salvo of revelations gives another dimension to scandal: that of an immediate danger to public health. In his statements relayed by Mosaic FM, Syrine Mrabet speaks of “food terrorism”, evoking a situation where spoiled meat would have been marketed. In the videos she shared, we see in particular pieces of altered meat, sometimes covered with sodas, in what seems to be a desperate attempt to hide their rotting.

“It is no longer just a matter of mismanagement or corruption. We are faced with a direct danger for the population, “she said.

This speaking strengthens the gravity of the accusations already brought against the company Ellouhoum, which seems to be bogged down in a systemic crisis combining administrative negligence, operational bankruptcy and now, health threat.

The Ministry of Commerce, supervision of society, remains silent for the time being, while consumers are starting to express their indignation on social networks. An official reaction is now expected at the highest level of the state, while confidence in public alimony is dangerously crumbling.
