The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received Wednesday evening at the Palais de Carthage the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafid, to take stock of the advancement of meetings with the members of the districts councils as part of the development of future development plans.
According to a press release from the presidency published today, this meeting emphasized the strategic importance of these plans, called to serve as a frame of reference for all future development projects. The Head of State said that these documents will have the vocation of breaking with previous economic choices, which he described as unjust social and economic.
Kais Saied insisted on the need to integrate the proposals of the representatives of the district councils in the final version of the report, before the possible preparation of a bill.
He said that the solutions will no longer be “imposed from the center as donations”, but will result from the needs expressed by the populations who have suffered from exclusion, poverty and marginalization.
The president also mentioned the experience of the State Secretariat at the Plan, created in 1961, welcoming the tangible results it made to obtain in the socio-economic fields.
He concluded by affirming that citizens are able today to offer concrete solutions and contribute to equitable growth throughout the territory, based on a new planning approach and a firm desire to move forward.
