The criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs, at the Tunis court of first instance, said on Monday a dismissal in favor of Slimane Ourak, former director general of Tunisian customs.

This decision puts an end to a long legal proceedings initiated more than ten years ago, relating to accusations of falsification of the results of a customs sergeant competition, especially during the 2008 and 2010 sessions.

According to Mosaique FM, recent technical expertise confirmed the absence of evidence attesting to any fraudulent manipulation. The results files have been examined meticulously, dismissing any direct responsibility of the former senior official.

Slimane Ourak was arrested in April 2011, then sentenced to a heavy sentence before being released in January 2018 following the cancellation of the judgment by the Court of Cassation.

In March 2025, the specialized accusation chamber decided to definitively arrest the prosecution, which led to this dismissal pronounced today.

This case, which lasted more than a decade, marked the Tunisian judicial scene by its twists and turns and highlighted the slowness and dysfunctions of the judicial system in administrative corruption files.
