Ten people were convicted in a case of financial and administrative corruption at the Gafsa Phosphate Company. Penalties range up to five years in prison, while some charges were dismissed or deemed unfounded by the Tunis court of first instance.

The Tunis Court of First Instance has delivered its verdict in a corruption case involving the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG).
Ten defendants were sentenced to prison terms of up to five years for financial and administrative crimes, while some charges of exploitation of a public official were dismissed.
Profiles and sanctions
Slim Feriani, former Minister of Industry, and a former CPG manager were sentenced to four years in prison.
Lotfi Ali, a former MP, his brother, a former director of the company and a former manager were sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of three million dinars each.
Romdhane Souid, former director general of the CPG, benefited from a dismissal of the case. Three other people were excluded from this main case and will be prosecuted in an independent case, according to the court.
