Since its first steps, cooperation between Tunisia and Japan has taken on a human dimension which enriched major development projects with “people to people” exchanges.
This dimension has never ceased to materialize for several decades which have seen numerous Japanese volunteers working in Tunisia in the most varied fields.
This local cooperation is still deployed today by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in close collaboration with the Japanese embassy in Tunisia.
In recent weeks, three new Japanese volunteers have arrived in Tunisia to operate within this framework and make their contribution in the areas of youth and specialized education.
These Japanese volunteers are
- Ohara Rui, assigned to the Bekalta Youth Center (Monastir)
- Haruka Maeda, assigned to the Ouardanine Youth Center (Monastir)
- Hara Miyuki, assigned to the Kairouan Specialized Education Pilot Center
Over the next two years, these volunteers will work alongside their Tunisian colleagues to support young people as well as people with specific needs, in a spirit of sharing, mutual aid and commitment.
As the newest Japanese volunteers take their first steps in Tunisia, it is important to emphasize that their contribution will not fail to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between our two countries.
