The customs guard units stationed in Tunis, Jendouba, Sousse, Gafsa, Médenine and Sfax have managed to thwart several smuggling attempts involving large quantities of illicit goods.
Among the entered products are ready-to-wear clothes, dried fruits, electronic equipment and mobile phones. Exchange -related offenses have also been noted, for a total value estimated at 8.7 million dinars, not to mention that of the means of transport seized.
In a statement published this Wednesday, the Directorate General of Customs said that 284 cases were recorded, linked to the detention of goods from smuggling or detained without legal proof of origin.
In addition, during the month of May, the customs guard units carried out several targeted operations, including the seizure of 24 tonnes of food supplements of unknown origin as well as a large amount of smuggling spare parts, estimated at 650,000 dinars.
