The hearing planned today in the so -called “conspiracy against state security 2” ended with a meeting without decision on the merits.
The criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs, sitting with the Tunis court of first instance, examined several requests, including the presentation of declarations of representation by new lawyers and a request to refer the file to military justice.
This last request, carried out by certain members of the Defense Collective, is based on the fact that several accused belong to so -called “weapons” bodies, which, according to them, would justify the competence of the military jurisdictions, reports Mosaique FM.
As a reminder, this case, postponed to today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, during a previous audience held in videoconference, implies more than twenty people, including several major political figures: Rached Ghannouchi, president of the Ennahdha movement, Rafik Abdessalam, Habib Ellouze, Kamel Bedoui, as well as the former head of government Youssef Chahed.
They are prosecuted for conspiracy against the interior security of the state and incentive to terrorist acts.
The defense, which continues to denounce political motivations, had also submitted requests for release, all rejected to date.
The fifth criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs at the Tunis court of first instance has postponed Tuesday to June 24, examination of the case.
