A new milestone has just been laid in Tuniso-Canadian cooperation with the signing this Friday of a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting training in the fields of ecological transition, green economy and the fight against climate change.
The project, entitled “Higher Institutes of Applied Sciences and Technology for a Green and Inclusive Economy”, is part of a five -year program funded by the Canadian government and the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICAN) organization, in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He will continue until March 31, 2030.
Form a new generation of ecological transition experts
This ambitious project aims to strengthen the employability of young Tunisian graduates in the expanding green sectors. It is also a question of improving the quality of university training through an inclusive approach, focused on educational innovation, gender equality, training-employment adequacy, and applied research in ecotechnologies.
The partner institutes will benefit from training programs in green entrepreneurship, innovative pedagogy, as well as support for the development of projects related to mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
Towards a mutual recognition of Tuniso-Canadian diplomas?
The signature ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education, Mondher Belaïd, of the Canada Ambassador to Tunis, Lorraine Diguer, as well as several academic officials from the two countries.
Beyond this partnership, the discussions focused on the prospects for extended university cooperation, in particular the mutual recognition of diplomas and the strengthening of academic mobility.
This project represents a strategic opportunity for Tunisia, which seeks to align its education system on the requirements of the green economy and to anticipate the needs of the markets of tomorrow.
