The Minister of Finance, Michket Slama Khaldi, announced, Thursday during her hearing before the finance committees of Parliament and the Council of Local Authorities, that the 2026 budget provides for the opening of 22,523 positions in the public service, mainly intended for holders of higher diplomas, spread over several specialties.
An increase supported by the regularization of thousands of jobs
This progression is mainly explained by the implementation of a national regularization and recruitment program concerning 51,878 positions, including 22,523 new recruitments planned for 2026.
The main beneficiaries are construction site workers: nearly 12,942 regularizations, substitute primary, middle and high school teachers: 13,837 positions, holders of applied licenses: 2,601 positions, physical education teachers: 1,066 positions, doctors integrated into various ministries: 1,350 positions, including 740 in higher education.
Reduction of structural unemployment in the public service
The minister stressed that the State will also process all pending recruitment files in different sectors, thus strengthening public administration and helping to reduce graduate unemployment, while ensuring better coverage of public services across the country.
