A foreign national was placed in detention as part of the investigation into the attack on a ship of the Soumoud flotilla at the port of Sidi Bou Said. The main investigating judge of the judicial center for the fight against terrorism issued a warrant for deposit against him, following the presentation of the suspect after his police custody.
The Interior Ministry had indicated in a statement that the attack on the ship was premeditated, stressing the severity of the incident. The specialized security services quickly identified and arrested an individual suspected of having participated in the operation.
The suspect was arrested by the national unit to combat terrorist crimes and national security attacks in Bouchaoucha, reports Mosaique FM. After his police custody, he was presented to the judicial center for the fight against terrorism. The investigating judge decided his incarceration within the framework of the current investigation.
A premeditated attack
Recall that two ships belonging to the international flotilla for Gaza were targeted at the port of Sidi Bou Said. The Family Boat, the Portuguese pavilion and main ship of the Spanish branch of the “Global Sumud Flotilla”, was targeted by a drone on September 8, causing a partial fire without making victims. The Alma, British pavilion, underwent a similar incident the next day.
The organizers accused Israel of intimidating the participants, while the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior said that the attack has constituted a “premeditated act”.
