In a statement published Monday, June 23, 2025, the Tunis governorate announced the launch of an insecticide aerial spray operation. This is done within the framework of the program to combat harmful insects in rural areas.
The operation will take place from June 24 to July 5, 2025, throughout the day. It will concern the surroundings of the Sebkha Sijoumi and the north shore of Lake Tunis. It aims to reduce the proliferation of insects, especially mosquitoes, which become particularly invasive in summer.
The authorities have called all beekeepers working in the areas concerned to take the necessary precautions to protect their hives. This is advised not only during the spray days, but also during the 24 hours following the end of the operation.
