A poignant drama recently moved the Tunisian community in Belgium and Tunisia. A 34 -year -old Tunisian young man, from the Kairouan region and living in Belgium, lost his life two years ago after being stabbed as he tried to help a mother and daughter victims of a robbery attempt.
This heroic gesture, although occurred some time ago, continues to arouse strong emotion. The mother of the deceased recently launched a moving appeal to the Tunisian authorities, requesting their aid to facilitate the repatriation of her son’s body so that he can be buried in his native land.
In a declaration on Mosaic FM radio this Wednesday, she expressed her wish to see her son resting among her family, stressing the importance of this approach for the mourning of the family.
This act of bravery recalls other similar incidents where individuals have risked their lives to save others. For example, in 2020 in Mellassine, a district of Tunis, a 23 -year -old young man was fatally stabbed while trying to defend a pregnant woman during a robbery. His courage was praised, and a street was appointed in his honor to commemorate his sacrifice.
These stories highlight the courage and altruism of those who do not hesitate to intervene in the face of danger to protect others. They also emphasize the importance of recognizing and honoring these heroic acts, while highlighting the challenges facing the bereaved families, in particular with regard to repatriation procedures.
