A new CAP for the Tunisian automotive industry. The Tuniso-Française Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCITF) and Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA) signed a strategic partnership agreement on Tuesday in Tuesday to boost the automotive sector in Tunisia and strengthen its presence on international markets.

Paraphée by Khelil Chaibi, president of the CCITF, and Myriam Elloumi, president of the TAA, this convention was concluded on the sidelines of a conference entitled “The automotive sector in the face of global transformations: challenges, opportunities and perspectives”. It aims in particular to promote Tunisian participation in the “Equip Auto Paris” fair, scheduled from October 14 to 18, 2025, one of the major meetings in the automotive sector in Europe.

Four priority axes

The partnership is based on four main axes: promoting the attractiveness of the Tunisian sector to French operators, stimulation of bilateral exchanges and investments, cooperation in innovation, research and technology transfer, as well as the organization of joint events and economic missions.

“This agreement will help to position Tunisia as a competitive industrial hub with high added value in the region,” said Khelil Chaibi.

A continuous growth sector

TAA vice-president Imed Charfeddine recalled that more than 280 companies are currently operating in the automotive industry in Tunisia, including 70 % concentrated in the Northeast. These companies intervene in various segments: wiring, software engineering, technical textiles, or renovation of components.

Notable fact: 67 %of these companies produce exclusively for export, with a strong orientation to Germany (37 %of exports), followed by France (21 %), Romania (12 %) and Italy (11 %). The sector employs around 100,000 people and has grown growth of 126 % since the year 2000.

In 2024, the automotive industry represented 7 % of the country’s industrial value added and 4 % of the gross domestic product (GDP).

In a global context of technological and ecological transition, this partnership aims to support the transformation of the Tunisian sector and to attract more projects with a strong technological intensity. Participation in the Equip Auto Paris lounge is part of this dynamic of upmarket and increased international visibility.
