April 14, 2025 will remain a dark day for several Tunisian schools, marked by a series of tragedies that cost several students.
In Mazzouna, in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, three students lost their lives after the collapse of a dilapidated wall in the courtyard of their high school. Two others were injured. The wall, the fragility of which had been reported several times, had however not been the subject of any repair. President Kaïs Saïed reacted by claiming accounts and by ordering a national audit of school infrastructure.
The black series continued in Bizerte, reports the TAP agency. A vehicle carrying eight fourth year students made a road trip in a dangerous turn, near the park “Le Riff”, in the “La Grotte” area, on the seafront. The accident cost the life of a 14 -year -old student, AZ, educated at Farhat Hached de Bizerte college and from Menzel Bourguiba. The other passengers, more or less seriously injured, were taken care of by the emergency services. A second accident involving another group of students occurred in the same region, on the road to Sidi Ahmed, causing several injuries.
Finally, in Boumhel, in the governorate of Ben Arous, a 16 -year -old student was found hanging from a river, according to Mosaic FM. An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of this tragic death.
In the space of a few hours, the Tunisian educational community has been hit hard. These successive dramas again raise questions about the safety of students, both in the school environment and outside.
