The Minister of Transport, Rachid Amari, chaired, Thursday, March 27, 2025, a working session devoted to the examination of the state of maintenance workshops and deposits of the Tunis Transport Society (Transu), located in Bakri, Séjoumi, Bir El Kassâa and Bab Saadoun. This meeting is part of preparations for the reception of new buses intended to strengthen the company’s park.
At the end of this session, several recommendations were made, in particular the acceleration of the development of the spaces suitable for the reception and parking of new vehicles. It has also been decided to accelerate the sale of obsolete equipment, in coordination with the structures concerned, in order to release additional areas.
In addition, the need to identify the training and qualification needs of technical staff and drivers has been underlined. The objective is to ensure optimal exploitation of new buses by improving the skills of human resources.
A new action plan has also been adopted, relating to the technical and organizational management of maintenance, the rationalization of spaces as well as the distribution of responsibilities. A mechanism for monitoring and controlling maintenance operations has been set up to guarantee their effectiveness.
With these measures, the authorities hope to improve the quality of the public transport service and optimize the management of new Acquisitions de la TransTU.
The company Transport Tunisia is expected to receive, at the end of next April, a set of 300 buses from China as part of a contract signed with the Chinese company King Long, specialized in the manufacturing of bus.
