The level of transmission of COVID-19 is “alarming” in Europe, noted the organization which is also concerned about the shortening of quarantine decided or envisaged in several countries, including France, reports AFP.
The director of the WHO Europe Branch, Hans Kluge, did not hide his concern. “The September figures should serve as alarm for all of us” through Europe, where the number of new cases is now higher than those recorded in March and April, “he said.
To date, Europe has nearly 5 million official cases and more than 227,000 dead while the number of daily cases recorded is currently around 40,000 to 50,000, during this second wave.
The WHO has also excluded shortening its recommendation of around 40 days for all those who were in contact with the virus, insisting on forty 14 days knowing that in France, the duration of isolation was brought back to seven days in the event of contact, to ten days in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
