The 4th edition of the Arab Summit devoted to the situation in Palestine, in particular in Gaza, ended this Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The event brought together the Arab leaders to debate the worrying situation in the region and define joint strategies to respond to the crisis.

At the summit, the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, announced the adoption by the participants of the Egyptian project aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza. He also underlined the unanimous refusal of the Arab leaders to allow the forced displacement of the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip.

The conference reaffirmed that peace remained the strategic option of Arab countries, based on the two -state solution. The leaders insisted on the need to continue the ceasefire, which faces many challenges, while calling for the implementation of concrete measures to stabilize the situation.

Another major point raised was the proposal to strengthen coordination within the Islamic Arab Commission, in order to present the Arab vision to the whole world. The question of sending peacekeeping troops by the United Nations in the West Bank and Gaza was also highlighted.

The Egyptian President said that his country was training Palestinian security units, called to take care of security management in the Gaza Strip in the coming months. He also mentioned the creation of a fund dedicated to the implementation of this reconstruction project.

For his part, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, insisted that the restoration of Gaza could not be limited to material aid, but also had to include dignity, stability and rejection of ethnic cleaning. He called for political responsibility, stressing that any sustainable reconstruction required a clear political horizon.

Finally, the official position of Tunisia on the question of Gaza remains unshakable: it pronounces against any forced displacement of the Palestinians and requires the immediate cessation of acts of violence against the Palestinian population.
