Ukraine claimed a unprecedented attack on Sunday, targeting Russian military aerodromes located thousands of kilometers from its border.
According to Ukrainian Security Services (SBU), this operation carried out using drones stealthily introduced into Russian territory would have damaged 41 aircraft, for damage estimated at $ 7 billion.
Among the targets would appear strategic bombers TU-95 and TU-22, used to hit Ukrainian cities, as well as A-50 radar detection planes. The strikes have targeted in particular the bases of Olfa, in the region of Mourmansk (Arctic), about 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine, and Belaïa, in eastern Siberia, at almost 4,300 kilometers.
Moscow has confirmed drone attacks in these two remote regions, evoking several planes “caught fire” after the impact of FPV devices – drones controlled remotely using on -board cameras. The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have identified and arrested suspects linked to these incursions.
This is one of the most daring attacks carried out by kyiv since the start of the conflict, illustrating the extension of its radius of action and its desire to hit the strategic military infrastructure far beyond the front line.
