Tunisia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon

Tunisia welcomed the cease-fire agreement this Thursday in Lebanon, aimed at saving the blood of the innocent people, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad.

It expressed the hope that this agreement, which entered into force at dawn of November 27, 2024, will open the way to a permanent and global judgment of the war, allowing the secure return of the inhabitants of southern Lebanon to their homes and the total withdrawal of the occupation army of the Lebanese territories.

Such an evolution would strengthen the security of Lebanon, would preserve its sovereignty and create a climate favorable to the completion of the construction of its remaining institutions as well as to the launch of reconstruction efforts.

Tunisia also underlined, in the same press release, the importance that this agreement contributes to ending the effusion of blood caused by the war of systematic extermination carried out against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

She called on the international community to assume its political, legal and ethical responsibilities, and to break with its unjustified indecision, by putting an end to the abuses and horrible and barbaric crimes perpetrated by the occupying entity.

In this context, Tunisia insisted on the need to oblige this entity to comply with the United Nations resolutions and to accelerate the implementation of all the guarantees necessary to protect the Palestinian people. She also pleaded for the immediate reopening of all the crossing points, in particular that of Rafah, in order to allow the entry of humanitarian and rescue aid without any restriction.

Tunisia has reaffirmed its unwavering and unconditional support for the right of the Palestinian people to recover its legitimate and inalienable rights, which will not stretch over time. First of all is its right to self -determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state on all the Palestinian lands, with Jerusalem as the capital.
