The spokesman for the Egyptian presidency announced in a statement that Abdelfattah al-Sissi received a telephone call on Monday from his Tunisian counterpart, Kaïs Saïed, on bilateral relations.

The interview allowed an exchange of views on the situation in the Gaza Strip. Egyptian efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid were discussed.

For his part, President Kaïs Saïed praised the Arab Gaza Reconstruction Plan, drawn up by Egypt, and affirmed Tunisia’s support for this initiative which would allow to start reconstruction without forced displacement of the Palestinians.

The two heads of state have reiterated their total and absolute opposition to any project to move the Palestinians from their land and liquidation of the Palestinian cause.

The Egyptian President stressed that “the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with east-equodes for capital, is the only guarantee to achieve lasting peace in the region”.

The two presidents praised the evolution of relations between their countries and reaffirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation in various fields, in particular economic and commercial. They also expressed their interest in the exploration of new perspectives of collaboration on subjects of common interest, in order to respond to the aspirations of the two brothers.

The interview also focused on the situation in Libya and Syria. The two leaders reaffirmed their attachment to the stability, unity and sovereignty of these two brothers in the whole of their territories, as well as the protection of their peoples against the dangers of conflict and division.
