Ethiopia condemned Tunisia’s position in the Security Council’s declaration, which calls for Addis Ababa to resume negotiations for the Renaissance dam crisis and to achieve a tripartite agreement.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Tunisia made a historical error by asking for a position from the Security Council on this subject.
In its press release, the ministry stressed that “the historic faux pas of Tunisia undermines its official responsibility as a non -permanent member of the UN Security Council representing Africa”.
And to add that “Ethiopia will not recognize any complaint raised on the basis of the presidency press release”.
Recall that the Security Council had published a statement calling for the parts of the Renaissance dam (Ethiopia, Egypt, Sudan) to resume negotiations. A position strongly praised by Cairo, and rejected by Addis Ababa.
