While the Israeli strikes against Iran provoke a soaring tensions in the Middle East, Donald Trump calls on Tehran to quickly conclude a diplomatic agreement. The ex-American president warns that without compromise, the next attacks will be “even more brutal”, and that Iran could be destroyed.
In a message published this Friday, June 13 on his Truth Social platform, American president Donald Trump launched a firm warning to Iran, when the Israeli strikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites continue. He considers that a diplomatic agreement is still possible, but that time is running out.
“Iran must conclude an agreement before there is nothing left,” wrote Trump, adding that the next Israeli attacks could be “even more brutal”.
The Republican leader claims to have given Téhéran “after chance” to renegotiate a nuclear agreement, and accuses Iranian leaders of having ignored these opportunities. He praised Israel’s fire power, stressing that the Hebrew state has “lethal weapons made in the United States” and “knows how to use it”.
While denouncing the “many human losses and destruction” already caused, Trump assures that it is still time to “stop this massacre”, before Iran undergoes irreversible damage.
Massive strikes and Iranian response
The Israeli operation, called Operation Rising Lion, is said to have targeted more than one hundred strategic installations in Iran, in particular the nuclear sites of Natanz and Ispahan. International media reports massive air strikes and the elimination of several senior officials of the revolution guards, including Generals Hossein Salami and Mohammad Bagheri.
In response, Tehran launched a hundred armed drones towards Israeli territory, causing a regional alert and the closure of several air spaces in the Middle East.
Washington back, but attentive
According to the Reuters agency, the Trump administration would have told Israel that no offensive military assistance would be provided for these operations, while maintaining intelligence and defense, especially in the event of Iranian reprisals.
Donald Trump insisted that the United States was not involved in the Israeli offensive, while taking advantage of the situation to renew his call for diplomatic resolution. Last February, he reactivated his “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran, combining reinforced economic sanctions and military threats.
