The White House made the shock decision to suspend all armaments and ammunition deliveries in kyiv.
The objective displayed: to compel the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to accept an unconditional ceasefire and to apologize after a tense altercation with Donald Trump at a meeting at the Oval Office.
This decision is part of a logic of gross pressure and political manipulation, a means for the Trump administration to submit Ukraine to its wishes. Three days after this stormy meeting, the White House once again offered a poisoned gift in Moscow, having suspended its military support to a country already at war since the Russian invasion of 2022.
Since the start of the conflict, the United States has allocated no less than $ 67 billion (around 64 billion euros) to Ukraine for its military support. But today, instead of continuing to treat kyiv as an ally, the US administration seems to want to humiliate it, making it more vulnerable in the face of Russian aggression. Under the pretext of a desire to seek immediate peace, Donald Trump seems ready to sacrifice the victim of the conflict in the name of an alleged equity of human losses.
By doing so, he turns his back not only to Ukraine, but also to European allies within NATO, who reaffirmed their unwavering support to kyiv.
Currently, $ 3.8 billion remains available, funds already approved by the congress but not yet used, suggesting limited military support during the transition period. Although the Biden administration has sought to quickly deploy these remaining funds, administrative and logistical constraints prevent any immediate action.
