This Friday, August 1, US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of two nuclear submarines in response to remarks deemed provocateurs made by former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev.
The announcement was made on his Truth Social platform, where he underlined the weight of words in such a tense context: “Words are of paramount importance and can lead to unforeseen consequences,” he wrote.
Without revealing details on the exact location, the president said that these buildings would be sent “in the areas concerned”.
This decision comes the day after Dmitri Medvedev’s virulent statements, which said that “each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war”.
Washington words consider an unacceptable verbal escalation.
Donald Trump also reacted to the Russian strikes that targeted kyiv on Thursday. The attack, led by drones and missiles, caused the death of at least 16 people and was more than 150 injured. “What Russia does is abominable. It is deeply sad, ”said the American president during a speech in the evening.
