American President Donald Trump announced this Tuesday, on the Truth Social platform, the start of what he calls the “second phase of the Gaza agreement”. This statement comes in a context of complete uncertainty around a possible ceasefire agreement, while Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid raise serious concerns.
According to an internal memo consulted by Reuters and confirmed by the United Nations, Israel informed the organization that it will only allow the entry of 300 trucks of humanitarian aid into Gaza starting this Wednesday — half the number initially agreed.
The Jewish state also clarified that no fuel or gas will be allowed to enter the territory, except for needs strictly related to essential humanitarian infrastructure.
This decision risks further aggravating the already critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, where international organizations are warning of the lack of food, water, care and energy.
While Donald Trump evokes a supposed new phase of agreement, no concrete details have been communicated by either Washington or Tel Aviv, leaving observers perplexed as to the reality of an ongoing political or humanitarian process.
