During a press conference held yesterday, April 15, the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that three coronavirus vaccines are currently in the clinical phase.
“Three experimental vaccines against the new coronavirus (COVVI-19) are in the phase of clinical trials while 70 other vaccines are being design, he said.
WHO also works with partners to accelerate the development, production and distribution of vaccines, he said.
A few days ago, WHO said that a coronavirus vaccine could not be found soon. “We should not expect a vaccine before at least 12 months,” said Margaret Harris, WHO spokesperson.
In Tunisia, the director of the Institut Pasteur de Tunis, Hechmi Louzir is more optimistic about it. During an interview with the newspaper La Presse published on April 11, 2020, the official assured that there will soon be a vaccine against the coronavirus.
A few days earlier, he had announced the start of research work on a coronavirus vaccine at the Institute.
The process is still at its beginnings, he explains on April 12, 2020 on FM mosaic, adding that the genetic constitution of part of the samples infected with the coronavirus makes it possible to develop vaccination against this virus in Tunisia.
