London is officially outside the European Union.

From this Friday, January 1, 2021, the United Kingdom therefore officially left Europe, its single market and its customs union.

In an editorial published in the Daily Telegraph, Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised that 2021 will be “a year of change and hope”.

“For us, it means the end of resentful quarrels on Europe that have poisoned our politics for so long,” he wrote.
Brexit and Tunisia
With a view to the release of the British of the European Union (Brexit), Tunisia and the United Kingdom had concluded, on October 4, 2019, a partnership agreement insofar as the association agreement between the EU and Tunisia will cease to apply to the United Kingdom from its release from the Union.

This agreement between Tunisia and the United Kingdom will come into application from the beginning of January 2021, the date of Brexit, announced, this Wednesday, December 30, 2020, the Ministry of Commerce and Development of Exports.

As soon as it entered into application, trade between Tunisia and the United Kingdom will be subject to the provisions of the agreement concluded between the two parties and ratified by “presidential decree n ° 2020-137 of November 30, 2020, ratifying the agreement establishing an association between the Tunisian Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and its appendices”.

The ministry also indicated that this bilateral agreement will preserve the normal pace of trade between the two countries and the trade benefits applied within the framework of the agreement with the EU, in particular those relating to the free exchange of industrial products and the rules of origin.

Other advantages will also be exchanged within the framework the agreement with the United Kingdom and will notably receive agricultural products not concerned by free exchange, in the form of annual quotas, including a quota relating to olive oil of 7723 tonnes exempt from customs costs.
