The origin of the name of this cemetery remains a mystery. It is one of the largest cemeteries in the Gaza Strip and is located in Al-Chajayia.
During their progress in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces destroyed or damaged “at least six cemeteries”, including the “Tunisian cemetery”.
According to the analysis of satellite images carried out by The New York Times, which published the result of its investigations Thursday evening, this cemetery was transformed by the Israeli army in a military positioning zone.
The daily compares two photographs taken respectively on December 6 and 8. The first shows what everyday life considers graves. Two days later, these tombs disappeared and gave way to military vehicles.
