While they were to return to Tunisia, the members of the “Somoud” caravan condition their departure from Libya to the release of their entered comrades near Syrte. A tense situation that arouses the concern of NGOs and activists.

The tension is lively around the militant caravan “Somoud”, currently blocked in Libya. Its members have announced their decision not to return to Tunisia until their comrades arrested near the city of Syrte is not released.

In a statement to Mosaic FM, the spokesperson for the caravan, Jawaher Channa, called on the Tunisian authorities to intervene urgently to obtain the release of persons detained by the Eastern Libyan security forces.

This situation follows a blockade imposed since Friday evening by the Libyan local authorities, according to a press release from the coordination of joint action for Palestine. The same source denounces increasingly difficult conditions, even evoking deprivation of food.

Several participants would have been arrested for having published critical videos against the Benghazi authorities. None of them could consult a lawyer or contact his relatives. At least four bloggers would be affected, while some members claim to have been threatened by armed agents after denouncing these arbitrary arrests.
