After the adoption of the new immigration law in France, the situation of Tunisian immigrants would now be worrying. This is what the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) considers.
The FTDES called, this Monday, December 25, 2023, the Tunisian authorities to “do everything to protect the rights of immigrants in France”, saying that they are worried about their situation.
The forum expressed its concerns after adoption, Tuesday, December 20, 2023, by the Senate and the National Assembly, French of the Immigration Bill.
In a press release, the FTDES expressed its concern, but also castigated the new French immigration bill, which “promotes hatred of immigrants, deals with them in a discriminatory manner and threatens the condition of all Tunisians immigrants in France and not only irregular migrants”.
He pinned the Immigration Law, stressing that it imposes a deposit on foreign students when registering in universities, hardens the conditions for family reunification, can refuse the residence permit and can go as far as the decline of citizenship.
The FTDES believes that by this law, France “once again deviates from the international agreements linked to human rights, of which it is an active part, and bilateral agreements in matters of free movement, as it violates the concepts and principles of protection, equality and dignity for all people, whatever their nationalities, their origin, their color of skin or their religion”.
The forum goes so far as to denounce “the continuation of cooperation between Tunisia and France, in this context of discrimination and hatred towards immigrants”.
