The American Senate unanimously adopted yesterday on Tuesday March 15, a resolution condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal on the background of the Ukrainian conflict.
The Reuters agency which describes this decision as a rare demonstration of unity within a deeply divided congress, explains that the resolution, presented by the republican senator Lindsey Graham and supported by the senators of the two parties, encourages the International Criminal Court (ICC) of The Hague and other nations to target the Russian army in any investigation of war crimes committed during the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
“All the members of this room have united, the Democrats and the Republicans, to say that Vladimir Putin cannot escape being held responsible for the atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people,” said the chief of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer.
