Professor Bawendi is a candidate alongside the Korean chemist Hyeon Taeg-Hwan and the American researcher at the University of Pennsylvania Christopher Murray.
A graduate of the University of Harvard in 1982 and then of the University of Chicago in 1988, he focused on the science and applications of nanocrystals, in particular semiconductor nanocrystals.
