The new omicron variant of COVID-19 has entered Europe and at present, the list of countries where it has been detected continues to lie down …

In the Netherlands, the health authorities have confirmed cases of new variant of COVI-19 among travelers from South Africa.

In total, 13 cases of the new variant of the Omicron coronavirus were found among the passengers who were on two flights from South Africa who arrived in Amsterdam on Friday.

The authorities had tested the 600 passengers and had found 61 cases of coronavirus, then tested them for the new variant, discovering 13 cases knowing that the flight passengers had either been tested negative, or shown proof of vaccination before going up in planes in CAP and Johannesburg, said a KLM spokesperson.

Now, the Dutch health authorities sought to contact some 5,000 other passengers who have traveled since Monday from southern Africa to test them again.

Discovered for the first time in South Africa, the variant has now been detected in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Botswana, Israel, Australia and Hong Kong.

Currently, the list of countries where the Omicron variant has been detected continues to lie down. One case was confirmed in the Czech Republic, a first case was also detected in Italy, while Germany confirmed that two people were contaminated by this new COVVI-19 strain. These are two travelers who arrived from South Africa.
