The risk of climbing is looming after Iran fired missiles on Israel. Here is what the arsenal of each country looks like.
On Tuesday evening, Iran attacked major Israeli cities with at least 180 ballistic missiles. The Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC) said that these shots were a response to civilian killings in Gaza and, more recently, in Lebanon, during Israeli attacks, as well as the assassinations of IRGC, Hamas and Hezbollah leaders. The missiles were supposed to aim specifically three military bases in Tel Aviv, and Iran would have used Fatah hypersonic missiles for the first time, although this information was not independently checked.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised a response, saying that Iran had “made a big mistake” and “will pay for that”. The United States also said they helped Israel counter the Iranian attack, promising support for its ally.
