The Immigration Law censored by the Constitutional Council
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Nine judges known as the wise men who form the Constitutional Council in France have largely censored, this Thursday, January 25, 2024, the anti-immigration law which is already controversial.

It is a large censorship on the part of nine wise men responsible for examining the 86 texts of the sulphurous immigration law. Indeed, 35 articles were completely or partially censored.

According to the French media, he notably eliminated numerous firmness measurements obtained by the right. These are in particular articles which relate to the tightening of access to social benefits, family reunification, or the establishment of a “return deposit” for foreign students.

Similarly, the measure lengthening the period of residence required so that non -Europeans in regular situations can benefit from certain social benefits (APL, family allowances, etc.) was thus completely censored.

Ditto for the tightening of the criteria of family reunification with a required residence period from 18 to 24 months, or the end of the automaticity of the law of the soil for children of foreigners born in France.
