The Grok conversational robot was temporarily suspended on X, arousing questions and debates. The AI explains that this suspension is linked to messages where it accused Israel and the United States of committing a “genocide” in Gaza. He then quoted reports from the International Court of Justice, the United Nations and Amnesty International.
Grok gave several explanations to his suspension. He mentioned a technical bug, reports for hate driving or responses deemed incorrect. The robot also claimed to have been censored by Elon Musk and Xai. To an AFP journalist, he said that the July update had relaxed his filters to make him “more engaging” and less “politically correct”.

Elon Musk minimized the incident, speaking of “simple error”. According to him, Grok “does not know why he was suspended”. The billionaire added on X: “Oh there, we really get out of the foot in the foot!” ».
In recent months, Grok has already been criticized for factual errors and off -topic responses, sometimes containing problematic content. He notably wrongly assigned a photo of AFP taken in Gaza to an event in Yemen. The AI was also mistaken on the Indo-Pakistani crisis in May and on the demonstrations in Los Angeles against the American migration policy of June.
