During the Summit of the European Union of Brussels which is currently held and for three days, a compromise solution was found about the 6th series of sanctions that European leaders intended to take to increase the pressure on Russia.
The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that this decision comes following the vet of Hungary against a total embargo of imports of Russian oil, Budapest being completely energetically dependent on Russia.
He added that this agreement makes it possible to cut an important source of financing of the Moscow war machine in its conflict with Ukraine, and that the EU exerts the maximum pressure on Russia so that it puts an end to this war.
This embargo is a part of a new series of sanctions, the sixth, against Moscow, but which was to have the agreement of all 27 members of the Union.
On the other hand, Charles Michel added that the new sanctions hit the largest bank in Russia and three state television stations.
