The balance sheet of the double explosion caused Tuesday August 4, 2020 by a fire in the warehouse where 2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate were stored for six years at the port of Beirut, left at least 154 dead and 5,000 injured, without forgetting the dozens of disappeared and the 300 thousand homeless, according to a new assessment of the Lebanese health authorities.
In a statement relayed by the Lebanese press, the military prosecutor said that 18 people including the board of directors of the port of Beirut, customs, maintenance officials and managers of the warehouse was questioned, and 16 were placed in preventive detention for the needs of the investigation.
