The Global International Coalition Sumud Flotilla (GSF) claims to expect an imminent Israeli attack against its ships on the way to Gaza. The organization has placed its buildings on maximum alert, while nearly 20 Israeli warships were identified at a distance between 7 and 20 seably miles.
According to publications broadcast on the social networks of the flotilla, Israeli buildings are only half an hour of navigation.
Pressure ships and interception loans
On board the Alma ship, the commander said he had placed four floating mines to slow down a possible Israeli approach. In parallel, several boats in the flotilla continuously diffuse their position and their images via Livestream in order to ensure maximum visibility of the mission.
Around 6 am, the GSF denounced the dangerous maneuvers of an Israeli military ship which would have tried to intimidate two civil boats and blurred their communications.
Images and videos broadcast live show the passengers putting on their life jackets. According to the correspondent of Al Jazeera on board, the tension is palpable, but the decision is clear: the flotilla will continue its route to the coasts of Gaza, even in the event of interception.
David Adler, member of the flotilla, said:
“We are ready to go to prison to accomplish this humanitarian mission. »»
Between support and international limits
The Spanish government has confirmed that the Furor military ship, sent in logistical support, will not enter the Israeli exclusion area for concern for security. The organizers insist on the strictly humanitarian nature of their action, rejecting the Israeli accusations of security threat, described as “propaganda”.
The initiators of the flotilla reaffirm their desire to deliver symbolic aid to Gaza and to denounce the blockade imposed by Israel. Despite the military threat and the risks of interception, they say they are determined not to go back and pursue to the Palestinian coast.
